Our Special Letter

March 12, 1994 ; a day of horror,

It was the day your life was no more.

You did not come home the night before,

So Mom went looking for you, finding a sight,

no parent should ever have to endure.

That was the day your life was no more.

Karen,

You are very greatly missed by ALL of your family. There is not a single day when we do not all stop and think of you and the way your life ended so soon with such horrible tragedy. We all want you to know , that we will never stop loving you or thinking of you and your beautiful smile. A lot of precious memories we hold in our hearts of you and things you have done to make us all so happy. It is because of you that we now have a beautiful little girl to look at every day and say, "oh my goodness, look at how much she acts like her Mother." ! Your daughter Katlyn is the most precious gift that God could have ever given to you. Now we all as a family, have the honor of keeping that precious gift to keep your spirit and your love alive here on earth! We thank you and we thank God every day for Katlyn.

We know that Katlyn is a part of you sent to us from Heaven.

I pray each night, that God will give me the strength I need to get through the next day. Life without you is very hard and different for me. In my mind I always had a fantasy that you would never die and you would be here with me forever. You passed over three months before I was due to graduate from high school. I know you were there with me in spirit though. I always dreamed of you being in my wedding, but you were there in spirit once again; and I always dreamed of you being there in the hospital for me while I was giving birth to my first born. But as you always have, you were there in spirit. I am very grateful and blessed to have had you there in spirit rather than not at all. A physical being would have been a greater gift, but not to complain at least I know you were by my side the whole time, and still are.
